I have always loved this quotation because it details the necessity of personal responsibility if any human hopes to be free. Freedom will only be possible if each takes responsibility for the self; battling the outward authority is only half of the battle. Battling the inward authority which has been instilled since birth can be just as difficult, and just as dangerous.
